We’re thrilled to welcome Jaime Singer to the garage as Graphic Designer.

Born and raised in Lancaster PA (yes, Amish people live there), Jaime grew up with three older brothers, who she credits for her thick skin and sense of adventure. After high school, she moved to Salt Lake City to be a full-time ski bum. (And attend university, of course).

Meet Jaime Singer

Always a creative and hands-on person, Jaime earned her BFA in graphic design with a minor in photography at the University of Utah. Go UTES! After graduation, she moved to Hood River on a whim and fell in love.

Get to know a little more about our newest creative team member with some Q&A.

What’s your favorite thing about your job?

I love the fact that beautiful, functional design is number one here. Blue Collar stands behind their concepts and works hard coming up with unique solutions to the task at hand.

How did you get involved with Blue Collar?

I was freelancing and the stars aligned! It worked out perfectly. It was hard transitioning back into 9-5, but working with such fun and talented people makes it pretty easy. I am a young designer so I’m excited to be able to fine-tune my skills and learn from Blue Collar.

Why do you believe in Blue Collar?

Everyone here is extremely passionate about their work. The mechanics at Blue Collar come up with out-of-the-box solutions that a client never expects but usually loves. That is extremely admirable in my book. A lot of agencies and designers go with the safe and obvious options, which doesn’t make you stand out from your competition.

What are your favorite sites, books, places for inspiration?

My favorite place to get inspiration is from my surroundings. I take photos of anything that catches my eye with my handy fujix100. I also get Communication Arts delivered to my doorstep. CommArts is filled with the most recent and best design out there. As much as I don’t want to admit it, I also love Pinterest.

What’s your favorite season and why?

That is really tough. I love every season because they bring good change of pace to my routine. If I have to pick one, I’d say fall. Fall brings the best dirt for mountain biking. Plus by that time I am so excited to tear out the beanies, scarves and sweaters. Feels good to bundle up!

What do you do for fun?

I like to explore and be active, which is very easy to do in this town. I ski and snowboard in the winter; mountain bike and kite in the summer! I also love yoga to balance out all my activities. Traveling to new places and seeing new things is always on my to-do list. Taking photos is also one of my favorite things to do. I love capturing those moments that you most likely would have never noticed in real life.

What do you consider the greatest human invention of all time?

Hands down, post-it notes. You will find post-it notes on all electronic devices I own, even my phone. I feel it’s easier to write it down on a post-it then type it into my phone.

What’s your weirdest quirk?

I can’t believe I am admitting this on the interweb where everyone can see, but I don’t think cow shit smells bad. True story. Anyone who grows up in Lancaster country will understand this and most likely agree with me. Don’t judge!

Meet Jaime Singer

What’s your personal goal?

Try new things every day.

What’s your philosophy?

Don’t take life too seriously.

Meet Jaime Singer; Stay weird!
